Our operations require pilots who are not only Transport Canada-certified commercial pilots, but also deeply experienced in integrating high-end survey sensors (RIEGL LiDAR, Vexcel camera systems) into real-world IFR/VFR operations in complex and mountainous airspace.

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Commercial Pilot – Multi-Engine Aerial Survey will operate PA31 Navajo aircraft in single-pilot IFR/VFR survey missions across Canada. Integrating high-precision LiDAR and photogrammetry systems while ensuring safety, compliance, and data quality. This role requires mastery in both pilot operations and integrated airborne sensor systems to deliver mission-critical mapping products.

 

This is a highly specialized role that blends:

· Multi-engine commercial aviation

· Advanced geospatial sensor operations

· Complex mission planning in Class A/B/C airspace

· Mountain weather and terrain assessment

· Client-critical government mapping project

Key Responsibilities

 

Core Pilot Duties

· Conduct pre-flight inspections and ensure aircraft weight/balance specifications are met.

· Coordinate flight activities with ground crews and air traffic control, inform crew of flight/test procedures, and direct aircraft crew during o perations.

· Manage in-flight monitoring of aircraft systems, respond to emergencies, and maintain communication with dispatch/weather services.

· Prepare flight evaluation and mission reports and accurately record operational data.

 

Aerial Survey & Technical Responsibilities

· Integrate, configure, and operate LiDAR (e.g., RIEGL) and photogrammetry systems during survey missions.

· Plan complex flight lines for terrain/urban survey corridors, ensuring optimal system performance and data quality.

· Enhance mission safety through detailed terrain/weather risk assessment and IFR/VFR judgment.

· Provide in-field training and mentoring to new pilots or sensor operators in aerial survey protocols.

· Conduct multi-engine aerial survey missions using PA31 Navajo in IFR/VFR conditions.

· Operate, assemble, calibrate and troubleshoot RIEGL LiDAR and Vexcel photogrammetry systems both on the ground and in-flight.

· Plan and execute complex survey lines, including altitude control, airspace coordination and terrain clearance.

· Liaise with ATC across Class A/B airspace for survey operations in congested corridors.

· Perform mountain-flying risk assessment: weather interpretation, terrain-performance analysis and decision-making.

· Provide line indoctrination and mentorship to newly hired pilots and sensor operators.

· Maintain strict compliance with Transport Canada regulations and internal SOP.

 

Mandatory Qualifications

· At least bachelor degree

· Complete graduation from an accredited flying/aviation school.

· Valid Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)

· Multi-Engine Rating & Group 1 IFR

· minimum 1,000+ Total Flight Hours including 750+ Multi-Engine PIC hours

· Proven single-pilot IFR operational capability

· ATPL; or SAMRA/SARON exams written

· High English proficiency requirements to at least CLB 9+

· Experience operating PA31 Navajo or equivalent survey aircraft

 

Highly Preferred / Asset Skills

· 2+ years direct experience with RIEGL LiDAR and Vexcel aerial survey systems

· 800+ hours on PA31 Navajo type

· Experience flying complex LiDAR and Photo missions for various clients in diverse airspace.

· Proven background in training and mentoring junior pilots in survey-specific operations

· Demonstrated mountain-flying expertise in Yukon / BC Interior / remote terrain environments

· Strong CRM, situational awareness, and autonomous decision-making in single-pilot IFR environments

Salary Rate: $ 90,480 – $ 105,000 per year
